Learn & Grow with Urban Harvest!

1. Intro Course MORE INFO

Join us for our Intro to permaculture and natural farming principles & design course that will prepare you to design & install and begin your own food garden.

Through theory and practice you will gain a strong foundation in every aspect of food gardening from building soil to harvesting seed.

 Course Fee: R750pp

(Includes tuition, 2 lunches & course manual)

Some of the topics covered include:

Choosing your site
Designing your garden
Soil Building: Compost and Earthworms
Preparing your beds
Mulching
Container Gardening
How to plant: Crop Rotation and Companion Planting

2. Advanced Course MORE INFO

Intro Course graduates are invited to join us for our advanced course in edible garden maintenance that will give you the tools to keep you garden growing through the seasons.

Course Fee: R750pp

(Includes tuition, 2 lunches & course manual)

Some of the topics covered include:

Maintaining soil fertility
Feeding plants
Individual plant care
Special herbs and their uses
Harvesting
Pest Control
Seed Collection
Plant Propagation

3. Community Intensive Courses MORE INFO

This two/four/six-day intensive is a comprehensive course that empowers individuals to grow their own food in small spaces at home and in larger community gardens. The course covers everything from designing to planting and maintaining and sustaining gardens in challenging community contexts.

These course are an integral part of our community garden installations, but Ad hoc courses for you and your organization are also available upon request .
